I should end this lengthy series on insecurities here. I remember when I still little, I'd wake my mum up in the middle of of the night, after a bad dream, shivering in fear.
And my mum would just recite this verse to me;
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7
She did that everytime I woke her up for months if not years
until I got to understand it myself.
As breeds of Christ, "fear" is something we should only allow under our feets.
Our insecurities are results of our fears.
And If you belong to God, you don’t need to fear what others think of you!
Instead, you can step forward boldly into His purpose for you.
Of Power, He gave. That Power, is our confidence. Sound mind is what happen when you let your fears evaporate, When you accept your identity in Christ.
This is one of my favorite scriptures and I hope it encourages and helps you overcome insecurity if this is a feeling you struggle with personally.
On the podcast last Thursday we discussed five tips to building self confidence. They're all in the slides above. I'd like to add to the last point which says: "learn".
A part of learning is also studying the Bible.
The word of God comes in handy when we need to challenge our thoughts and silence that inner critic.
Like the one i quoted earlier.
Imagine what happens when I remind myself of 2Timothy 1:7 when I'm about to embark on a project I feel so scared to start.
My God has not given me the spirit of fear, but of power, of love and sound mind. I am powerful and with the help of my God I CAN...
That changes everything!
And need we forget not that This God, the Almighty is our ONLY Security. And Nothing is impossible with Him. Here are the tips I've got for y'all:
